Breakfast Panino on Croissant at Cafe Trieste (Oakland, CA)
Staying the Piedmont Ave. course: this is a scrumptious lil’ bite I’ve made from Cafe Trieste’s breakfast menu a buncha times. Trieste’s a local chain that can seem off-putting at first, but actually makes decent food at decent prices if you work with their options. Their pizza and coffee drinks are generally correct. LOVE the overnight-brewed ice coffee. Anyway, for their croissant and English muffin breakfast sandwiches they charge a slightly different (relatively low) price for any combo of eggs, meat, onions, tomato, etc. My version comes to six bucks. Tasty!
Bacon and scrambled eggs with fresh tomato and red onion. The croissant gets pressed on the grill, caramelizing the butter, crisping the flaky edges, drawing the flavor out. Class. No extra butter, cheese, or sauces needed. Just get your fat from the bacon and the croissant, it’s there waiting!
Comes with pepperoncini and pickle on the side.
